It's been perfect for me over the years and I'd hate to have to go back to using multiple remotes or find some other multifunction remote to use. I guess power outages and being unplugged to move it around could account for that, but still seems like a lot of off time over the years.Īs for the topic on hand I'm disappointed since I really love my Harmony One remote. Somewhat odd is that it reports it's only been plugged in for a little over 11 years even though I got it January 2008. Got curious and checked the hours on the panel and I've put 18,100 hours on it or a bit over 2 years worth. There are times when things are a little dark so likely could use a calibration since I haven't done that since after breaking in the panel 13 years ago and more or less using the settings on the AVS forums for the panel. And lastly I feel like my plasma still looks great for the things I watch so see no reason to replace it at this time. Second none of the media I watch is at 4K resolution so wouldn't be getting that much of a benefit from the extra resolution. First at the distance I watch it I'd need to scale up to something like 70"+ to supposedly even notice the 4K resolution. I still have my Pioneer Kuro plasma and have no plans to replace it unless it breaks. Maybe I'll sell it in 5 years when they start to breakdown, and diehards start to get desperate for replacements on eBay.Ĭlick to expand.I'd say it depends entirely on what you are watching. Good riddance, the 650 is going back in storage. ![]() I bought a basic $20 Philips universal remote, and the TV controls everything else through HDMI-CEC. The biggest issue for non-techies is how you have to keep pointing the remote towards the TV for 5 seconds when initiating an action, because it has to cycle through all the signals for your various devices. There's a learning curve, the other house hold members would have eventually figured it out after using it for weeks, but why bother? It's easy to get stuck in a screen on the remote you don't recognize, and not be able to find your way back. ![]() It's supposed to simplify complex setups but it's so obtuse that nobody but myself was able to figure it out. I don't have time in my life to figure out crap like that. This meant it chewed through batteries at a rate of one set every two days. There's something wrong with the way I set it up, so the screen stays lit unless you manually press the power button on the remote. Dug out a Harmony 650 less than a week ago because the remote that came with our Sony TV finally succumbed to our toddler.
